Arc'teryx Vertex Alpine Approach Shoes - Women's review
As soon as I got to Tokyo, the first thing on my mind was "bird hunting", so I rushed straight to the two stores in Daimaru and Shinjuku. And guess what? I scored these Arc'teryx Vertex Alpine Approach Shoes - Women's. I knew the sizing runs small, so I went for a half size up. Lucky me, they had the right size for me (turns out it's actually a men's size).
Right after I bought them, it started pouring. It was like fate had set up a perfect function test for these shoes.
Here's what I think:
▫️ Waterproofing: Man, these shoes are waterproof as hell. No doubt about that. But yeah, a watermark does show up on the shoe.
▫️ Breathability: A lot of people ask about this. To be real, since they're made to be waterproof, it's hard to expect them to be super breathable. One sunny day, I wore them all day long, and my feet did feel a bit stuffy. Gotta be honest, no brand worship here.
▫️ Looks: This is where these shoes really shine. They make your feet look small when you put them on. The color is this cool, gray - blueish shade, and it looks really high - end.
▫️ Wearing them: You might need a shoehorn to get these on. And definitely wear long socks. If you wear short socks, your ankles will be killing you.
▫️ Outdoor performance: I took them hiking. Walked on dirt and gravel paths, and the shoes felt so sturdy and stable. I didn't have to worry about slipping or twisting my ankle at all.
