Need a package quick? Well, you may be in luck. Amazon is opening a facility in Hazel Park that will allow customers to order same-day delivery, a service that will allow some items to arrive just five hours after they're ordered.
Deliveries are made via "Amazon Flex," a service that puts drivers in charge of scheduling themselves, delivering packages on behalf of Amazon.
The faster delivery by proxy of being closer to customers is helping Amazon reach carbon neutrality, the company claims.
In addition, the facility is hiring beginning at $15 an hour.
The announcement comes just after the online retailing giant announced it would tack on a $9.95 delivery fee for all grocery deliveries from Whole Foods via Amazon.
The new charge starts Aug. 30, and Amazon said it was adding the fee to avoid raising product prices.
Previously, delivery was free for Prime members with orders of $35 or more.
