HOKA KAHA 2 FROST GTX Hiking Boots review
Our family's trip to Hokkaido wrapped up smoothly. The only thing I'm kicking myself about is that I wore way too many clothes and my shoes were way too thick. But hey, let me tell you about these HOKA KAHA 2 FROST GTX hiking boots I had on the whole time. They had some really cool things going for them, but also a few things that didn't sit right with me.
The Good Stuff
1. They're Like Snow - Storm Warriors:These boots were amazing in the Hokkaido snowstorms. They were super waterproof and slip - resistant, like I was standing on solid ground even in all that crazy weather. And they kept my feet toasty warm. In Otaru, while some people were putting on those ice - grippy things, I was doing just fine in these boots. I could tromp around in the deep snow no problem.
2. Walking on Clouds, Seriously:The thick soles on these boots are something else. It felt like I was walking on clouds every time I stepped on the snow. I could walk for 8 hours straight and my feet wouldn't be killing me. They're perfect for that outdoorsy, "mountain - look" style. And when I paired them with my cargo pants, they didn't look like those big, clunky boots you usually see.
3. Warm and Lightweight:They kept my feet warm even when it was like minus fifteen degrees out. And they were a lot lighter than those big, old - fashioned outdoor winter boots. That was a nice plus.
The Not - So - Good Stuff
1. Ouch, My Legs!:There's this really annoying thing about these boots. The part around the edge that's kind of like a towel is soft, but the thing that holds the shoelaces is really hard. And the inside of the boot is too soft and thin, so it can't stop that hard part from digging into my leg. After walking for more than half an hour, my legs were hurting like crazy. I don't know how those bloggers said these boots were so comfortable. They're definitely not as comfortable as my Salomon QUEST GTX ADVANCED high - top boots.
2. Too Hot to Handle:One more thing, they were just too warm! I was sweating like crazy in these boots, even though it was cold outside. It was like they were over - doing it on the warmth factor.
