Arc'teryx Cerium Down Jacket - Men's review
How do you pick between the classic Arc'teryx down jackets, the Thorium and the Cerium?
Well, the Thorium's got that 750 fill power down according to European standards, and the Cerium's got 850. Looking at the prices, the Cerium's got less down stuffing but it's a bit pricier. The Thorium comes in two fill weights, AR and SV. All I know is it uses grey goose down. Now, the Cerium's got three fill weights: SL with 50 grams of grey goose down, LT with 95 grams, and SV with 185 grams. The LT and SV use white goose down.
The Cerium's cut more slim - fitting, but the Thorium's a sporty type, so it's got a looser fit. Also, the Thorium's got more down in it, with a 750 fill power. The Cerium, on the other hand, has 850 fill power.
Using 'em in Different Situations
If you're thinking about those freezing winter days and you want a real warm, thick down jacket, the Thorium's probably your best bet. With all that extra down and the 750 fill power, it'll keep you toasty. But if you're looking for a light - weight mid - layer for your outdoor adventures, then the Cerium might be the one for you.
