Apple Just Launched A Portable MagSafe Battery Pack For The iPhone 12 Series
Apple has launched a new portable MagSafe Battery Pack, an accessory that’s designed to work with the iPhone 12 series — namely, the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. It’s currently available for preorder, at SGD139 on apple.com.
According to the brand, “attaching the MagSafe Battery Pack is a snap”. Like the rest of the MagSafe accessories, the system consists of perfectly-aligned magnets that allow you to attach a variety of items to the back of your phone, from leather card sleeves to wireless chargers, and now, the on-the-go, portable battery pack. Available in white, the compact design allows automatic charging, so you won’t have to turn it on or off, and according to Apple, this will not interfere with your credit cards or key fobs either.
While on the go, the MagSafe Battery Pack can charge an iPhone at 5W, but plugged in with a Lightning Cable, this goes up to 15W; the status of the charge can be checked right on your phone’s lock screen. The MagSafe Battery Pack and the iPhone can be charged at the same time, while the MagSafe Battery Pack can also be charged through the iPhone if, say, your phone is already connected to a power source or another device.
Apple has not released official charge capacity figures or battery life estimates, but a product photo suggests that the MagSafe battery has a 1,460mAh capacity, which allows for a partial charge. In a support page, Apple says that iOS 14.7 or later is required to use the accessory.
